and Kochie Banton's "This Time" and Anthony Haughton's smoldering "Sex Time." Dollar Man's "Leader of the Pack" is pure island dancehall - tough rhythm, patois filled, and boastful. Somebody better get a copy to Shelene tout suite, as she's about to throw her life away, declaring "I'll Give You Everything." That single, produced by Michael McDonald, is a lush R&B-flavored number, but is still arranged in a firmly Jamaican manner in contrast is the more American-styled R&B of Kevin B.

Pinchers is worried about his love life on the lovely "Something Is Missing." Captain Remo and Jango Thriller complain "She's Crazy," a derogatory song about a free spirit perhaps she's heard Sister Charmaine's heavy-hitting "Fret & Worry," an eloquent epistle on an everyday woman's life that would make any girl think twice about settling down. Elsewhere, the loquacious Chaka Demus offers up an equally powerful rap on "Spirit." Other DJs have different concerns. The former is paired with Culture-T for a powerful and anthemic sermon on Babylon on "Every Little Thing." Rebel joins forces with Garnett Silk and Half Pint for the fabulous "Jah Love Inna We," a potent blend of tough rhythm, gorgeous vocals, and potent toasts. Freddie McGregor and Tony Rebel had long been influential in this cultural arena, long before the slackers changed their ways. With full credits but no sleeve notes, it's a dodgy entrance into the dancehall world, though, at least for those who'd like some information on the scene, but the label preferred to splash out on a poster of a busty, scantily clad model. Some thought went into the sequencing, at least musically, thus the album works well as a party mix CD. It's a menagerie of artists, producers, labels, sounds, and themes, running the gamut from big names to lesser-knowns, slacker songs to cultural numbers.
